Tessie App FAQ 2026: Trials, Safety and Automations

Last updated: 1 November 2026

In a rush? Tessie can be useful if you want more detail about your Tesla, but the plan and permissions matter. These answers help you decide what to try and what to check before connecting your car.

Is there a Tessie promo code?

I cannot confirm a universal code from Tessie's current official guidance. My referral link opens its signup route, but the offer you see there decides whether a trial or discount applies. The discount guide explains the checks.

Can I get a lifetime discount?

Count one only if Tessie displays it for your account. Avoid paying for lifetime access before you know whether you use the app. The pricing comparison covers normal prices and how lifetime compares with annual billing.

Does Tessie offer a free trial?

Tessie advertises a trial route. Check its duration, included plan, payment requirements and renewal price at signup. I would use it to find out which features I keep opening, rather than assuming it includes every Pro feature.

Does Tessie store my Tesla password?

Tessie describes an OAuth connection: you sign in with Tesla and authorise access, then Tessie receives a token. It says it does not store your Tesla password. You can manage permissions through your Tesla account. Read Tessie's security explanation.

Is it safe to give Tessie access to my car?

Read the permissions before linking your account, enable the available account-security protections and remove access when you no longer need it. Tessie describes encryption, biometric protection and support for Tesla multi-factor authentication. Those are useful safeguards, but no connected service can promise zero risk.

Could commands or automations cause problems?

Vehicle controls deserve the same care whether you use Tessie or the Tesla app. Check what an automation does before leaving it running. I would not describe any app as incapable of causing a problem, or guarantee a warranty outcome for every situation. Ask Tesla about a specific warranty concern.

Will Tessie drain my battery?

Tessie says it lets the car sleep unless you take an action. Parked drain can have other causes, including Sentry Mode, climate settings and updates. Start with its sleep guidance and phantom-drain troubleshooting rather than assuming the app is responsible.

Which plan includes automations?

Pro and Fleet include automations; standard Tessie does not. Before upgrading just to schedule charging, compare the options already built into your car. Tessie's charging-schedule guide explains that Tesla added its newer scheduling system in firmware 2024.26.

Does Tessie replace Intelligent Octopus Go scheduling?

If Octopus is controlling your charging, avoid adding a competing schedule without checking how the two will interact. Tessie is not a way to guarantee a cheap electricity rate. Use the slots and tariff terms Octopus gives your account.

Can I use it on my phone, watch and computer?

Tessie lists apps for iPhone and Android, Apple Watch and Wear OS, plus web access. Check the features supported by the device you want to use on its official platform links.

Does every feature work on every Tesla?

Check the requirements for your car and plan if you want a particular feature. A supported model does not mean identical hardware, software or access to every tool. My Highland and Juniper guide covers those models. Check the individual feature requirements before choosing a plan.

Can an AI assistant control my Tesla?

Tessie’s optional AI connections can support vehicle commands as well as reading data. Review the access you grant, manage connected apps in Settings > Security, and remove custom MCP tokens in Developer Settings when no longer needed. See Tessie’s MCP documentation.

Is Tessie worth paying for?

Start with the problem you want it to solve: charging records, battery trends or an automation you will use. If the official app covers your needs, another subscription may add little. My Tessie review describes the battery and charging information I value.
