Tesla Video Conferencing: How Google Meet, Teams and Discord Work

In a rush? Tesla software update 2026.26 lets the in-car browser use the cabin camera and microphone on AMD Ryzen cars. That means browser versions of Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Discord can handle video calls while the car is parked. Older Intel cars do not get the webcam feature.
Tesla video conferencing is no longer limited to the built-in Zoom option. The 2026.26 Summer Update gives supported cars a more flexible route: open a meeting service in the browser, grant camera and microphone permission, then use the cabin camera as your webcam.
I can see this being useful when you arrive early for an appointment, stop at a Supercharger during a workday or need a quiet place for a short call. It does not turn the Tesla into a sensible meeting room while you are driving. Video belongs in a proper parking space with the car in Park.
Which meeting services work in a Tesla?
Running it through the browser makes the feature far more useful. Tesla does not need a separate app for every meeting platform, so any compatible web service can ask to use the camera and microphone.
- Google Meet: join through the Meet website and allow camera and microphone access.
- Microsoft Teams: use the browser meeting option rather than installing an app.
- Discord: open Discord in the browser for video, voice or a server call.
- Zoom: Tesla still has its established Zoom experience, so you can use that instead.
- Other web services: support depends on whether the website works with Tesla's browser and requests media permissions correctly.
A working website today could still change later. Meeting providers update browser requirements, sign-in checks and media support without waiting for a Tesla release.
What you need before trying it
- Tesla vehicle software 2026.26 or a later branch containing the feature.
- An AMD Ryzen infotainment processor.
- A reliable data connection, usually Premium Connectivity or Wi-Fi.
- A browser-supported account and meeting link.
- The car parked somewhere safe and legal.
The AMD requirement is the main limitation. Tesla introduced AMD Ryzen infotainment in newer cars, but the changeover date varies by model and factory. Do not assume a registration year proves which processor you have.
How to check whether your Tesla has AMD or Intel
Open Controls > Software, then tap Additional Vehicle Information. Look for the infotainment processor entry. It should identify AMD Ryzen or Intel Atom.
If it says Intel Atom, the 2026.26 browser webcam feature is not available. You can still use normal Bluetooth calls and other existing features, but the cabin camera will not become a browser webcam.
How to join a Google Meet call in a Tesla
- Park the car in a suitable space.
- Open the Tesla web browser.
- Go to Google Meet and sign in if required.
- Open the meeting link or enter its code.
- Allow the website to use the cabin camera and microphone.
- Check the preview, then join the call.
The process should feel familiar if you have joined a meeting through Chrome or another desktop browser. Tesla shows a permission request before a website can use the camera or microphone. You can refuse access if you only want to listen.
Using Microsoft Teams in the Tesla browser
Open the Teams meeting link and choose the browser option when it appears. Sign-in requirements depend on the organiser and your Microsoft account. Some company policies block browser joining or require managed devices, so a personal Tesla browser may not pass every workplace security check.
A meeting that allows guest access should work without much fuss. I would still test it before an important call rather than discover a company restriction with everyone waiting.
Does Discord video work in a Tesla?
Discord has a browser version that can request camera and microphone access. That makes video calls, voice channels and direct calls possible on a supported Tesla, subject to Discord's current browser compatibility.
I would be happier using it for a parked social call than sitting through a long work meeting. The car has a large screen and good speakers, but it still has the seating position, lighting and mobile connection of a car.
What the cabin camera view looks like
Tesla crops the cabin camera feed around the driver rather than showing the entire front cabin. The crop helps your face fill the call window, although you may need to adjust your seating position if it feels too tight.
The built-in microphone handles audio and call controls let you mute or unmute without hunting through several tabs. Your connection quality will still have the biggest effect on whether the call feels smooth.
Can you use Tesla video conferencing while driving?
Do not use video while driving. Tesla's existing conferencing guidance restricts cabin-camera video to Park, and that is the only sensible way to use the new browser access too.
If a meeting continues after you shift out of Park, expect video to stop or the browser experience to become restricted. Finish the call before moving off whenever possible. A work meeting is not worth splitting your attention on the road.
Camera and microphone privacy
A website must ask for access before it can use the cabin camera or microphone. Read the permission box instead of clicking through automatically. Grant access only to the meeting service you intended to open.
When the call ends, close the meeting tab and check the site's permissions if you chose an option that remembers access. The meeting provider controls its own call recording, account and data policies, just as it would on a laptop.
Is it better than joining on a phone?
The Tesla screen is larger, the speakers are better and you do not need to balance a phone against the dashboard. Those are real advantages during a charging stop.
Your phone remains easier when you need to leave the car, switch networks or use a workplace app with strict device requirements. I would keep my phone nearby and treat the Tesla browser as a useful backup for an important meeting.
