Joining Vinted to sell?
The current referral offer gives both people £5 after the new member lists three items, then another £10 each after a qualifying sale.
Referral disclosure: If you join through the Vinted link and meet the current conditions, you and Steven can receive Vinted shopping vouchers. The vouchers are not cash and Vinted can change the offer.
Vinted fees UK: quick table
| Charge | Who pays? | Current UK position |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | Seller | £0 for a standard private listing |
| Standard selling commission | Seller | £0 for private sellers |
| Buyer Protection | Buyer | 5% of item price plus £0.70 |
| Shipping | Buyer | Varies by parcel, route and provider |
| Bump or Wardrobe Spotlight | Seller | Optional; price shown before purchase |
| Optional verification | Buyer or seller, depending on service | Shown on the relevant listing or checkout |
The fee structure comes from Vinted's current UK how-it-works page, checked on 1 September 2026. Open the checkout or service screen before paying because Vinted can amend fees.
How much does a Vinted seller receive?
A private seller normally receives the agreed item price. If an item sells for £20, the seller receives £20 after Vinted completes the order. The buyer's protection and shipping charges sit on top of that £20.
Optional seller services change the seller's net result. Paying to promote an item creates a separate cost even though Vinted does not deduct a standard commission from the sale.
Vinted Buyer Protection fee
Vinted currently charges UK buyers 5% of the item price plus £0.70 on each Buy now transaction. Vinted says this charge helps protect the payment and account information. Its refund process covers an item that does not arrive, arrives damaged in transit or differs significantly from its description, subject to the current rules and reporting deadlines.
Vinted tells buyers to report a problem within two days of delivery. Unless the parties agree otherwise, the buyer covers return postage.
Worked Buyer Protection examples
| Item price | 5% variable charge | Fixed charge | Buyer Protection total | Price before shipping |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| £5 | £0.25 | £0.70 | £0.95 | £5.95 |
| £15 | £0.75 | £0.70 | £1.45 | £16.45 |
| £50 | £2.50 | £0.70 | £3.20 | £53.20 |
Shipping still needs to be added. A £15 item therefore costs more than £16.45 once the buyer selects delivery.
Who pays postage on Vinted?
The buyer pays shipping and chooses an available provider at checkout. The amount depends on the parcel size, both locations and the provider. Vinted then sends the seller a prepaid label or the shipping instructions for that order.
The seller must use the provider shown in the order. Vinted warns that it cannot track a parcel sent through a different provider and may cancel the transaction. The Vinted selling guide covers parcel selection and dispatch.
Optional seller charges
Vinted sells optional visibility tools, including item bumps and Wardrobe Spotlight. These are advertising costs rather than selling commission. Check the displayed price, duration and expected audience before buying one. A promotion cannot repair weak photographs, a vague description or an unrealistic price.
Vinted referral vouchers and fees
The referral reward does not pay shipping, Buyer Protection or optional services. Vinted applies one voucher to an eligible Buy now order when the item price reaches £15. The minimum excludes those extra charges, so a £14 item plus £3 postage does not meet the £15 item-value condition.
Read the Vinted referral link guide for the seven-day listing deadline, 30-day sale deadline and full voucher restrictions.
Private seller and Vinted Pro costs
This guide focuses on ordinary UK private sellers clearing their own belongings. Vinted applies separate Pro terms to professional sellers. If you buy stock to resell or operate as a business, check whether you need a Pro account and review the current Pro charges, consumer obligations and tax position.
Costs outside Vinted
- Packaging such as boxes, mailing bags, tape and labels.
- Travel to a parcel shop or locker.
- Return costs where the rules or an agreement make you responsible.
- Tax where your activity goes beyond selling personal possessions and creates taxable trading income or gains.
Keep records if you buy goods to resell or sell at scale. HMRC decides tax treatment from the facts, not the name of the app.
